Murder inquiry underway after man died on farm in Gwynedd

POLICE in Gwynedd have confirmed that they are dealing with a murder inquiry after a man was killed in Minffordd, Penrhyndeudraeth.

Emergency services were called to a farm at around 1.30pm on Thursday before the man’s body was discovered at Penrhyn Fawr farm.

An air ambulance was called to the scene but was later informed that their services were not needed, Herald.Wales understands.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police told Herald.Wales: “Further to our earlier statement, we can sadly confirm that we are investigating the murder of a man this afternoon in Minffordd, Penrhyndeudraeth.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family, who are being supported by specially trained officers.
“One man is currently in custody, and there are no ongoing concerns for public safety.
“If anyone has any information that can assist us with our investigation, please contact us via 101 or contact Crimestoppers.”

Members of the public were urged to avoid the area as armed police descended on the scene and carried out a search of the nearby area.

A witness told Herald.Wales that is was usually a quiet area.

The local, who did not want to give his name, said: “We now have a lot of plain clothes detectives and forensics officers at the scene. The investigation already seems to be in full swing.

“There are a lot of police here at the scene.

“We are really tight-knit here, and this is really a tragedy for the whole local community.”
