Three police officers injured at disturbance in Neath

EIGHT people, three of them police officers, were injured during a disturbance in Neath at 6:30pm on Monday, April 12.

Police attended Windsor Road, Neath, after an assault was reported.

Three suspects were acting violently and resisting arrest, this resulted in the use of a Taser.

Two men from Briton Ferry, one 22 and one 20, and a 37-year-old woman from Port Talbot were arrested for various assault charges including assaulting an emergency worker. All three are still in police custody.

The three officers were injured, alongside 5 others, at the scene but, according to South Wales Police, none required hospital treatment.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward by calling 101.

South Wales Police launched an operation on March 27 called ‘Operation Lileum’, this was in response to levels of anti-social behaviour in the town.

South Wales Police increased patrols in the area and appeals were made for members of the public “to work with us to help inform and target those patrols”.
