Police dismiss viral ‘Strawberry Quick’ drug warning as a hoax

PARENTS have been urged to disregard a widely shared social media warning about a so-called drug known as ‘Strawberry Quick’, as police confirm the message is a hoax.

Images of an email, allegedly sent by a school, claimed that children were being targeted with a drug resembling sweets, which reportedly smelled like fruit. However, Police have stated that the message is not genuine and have warned against spreading false information.

A police spokesperson addressed the issue, saying: “We are aware of a message purporting to be from Police advising of a new drug called ‘Strawberry Quick’ being shared with children. This is not a genuine message and has been confirmed as a hoax.”

Authorities are now urging schools and parents not to circulate the misinformation further. The spokesperson continued: “We are asking schools to be aware of this message and to not share it more widely. Remember, genuine messages from Police will include a mechanism for reporting crimes, usually via 101 or Live Chat.”

Reassuring parents, the police added that anyone concerned about their child’s safety can reach out through official channels. “Anyone with concerns around their children’s safety can contact us via these channels,” they said.
