How your Welsh MP voted on the winter fuel payment cut

The House of Commons has voted to proceed with controversial plans to remove the £300 winter fuel payment from millions of pensioners. Despite attempts to block the cut, MPs voted 348 to 228 in favour of axing the payment for all but the poorest pensioners.

The decision has sparked widespread outrage, with Labour backbencher Jon Trickett among those opposing the government’s stance. Trickett, representing Normanton and Hemsworth, stated he could not “in good conscience” support the policy. Interestingly, 53 Labour MPs, including seven ministers, did not have their votes recorded. Some of these MPs were reportedly “slipped,” meaning they were given permission not to attend the vote. Notably, 15 of the Labour MPs who had signed a motion urging the government to delay the implementation of the cut were among those who did not vote.

Downing Street remained resolute against softening the impact of the cut, with a spokesperson confirming on Tuesday morning that there were no plans to widen eligibility for the payment.

This list shows you how your MP voted. It shows if an MP voted FOR the Tory amendment which aimed to stop the cut or supported Keir Starmer by voting AGAINST the proposal.
