Wales to face England at Wembley in international friendly

England’s newly-appointed manager, Thomas Tuchel, will lead his side into a Wembley showdown against Wales this October in what promises to be a highly anticipated international friendly.

The clash, set for 9 October, will mark the 105th meeting between the two nations, their most recent encounter having taken place during the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Wales have confirmed an additional friendly fixture as they finalise their 2025 schedule. Craig Bellamy’s team will host Canada on 9 September at the Swansea.com Stadium, a venue they last played at in November 2020.

Wales will kick off their World Cup qualification campaign on 22 March with a home fixture against Kazakhstan as they set their sights on securing a place in next year’s tournament.

The Football Association has also announced that England will take on Senegal in another friendly, scheduled for 10 June at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground. This will be the first senior men’s international at the stadium since 1909. Senegal, like Wales, were among England’s opponents at the 2022 World Cup.

Commenting on the upcoming fixtures, Tuchel said: “The games against Senegal and Wales will present good challenges for us against two very different opponents.

“Facing a strong African team in a passionate city with rich football heritage and then a derby match at the iconic Wembley; two big occasions that can only help us on the road to the World Cup.”

These friendlies will complement England’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, providing valuable tests against diverse opposition as Tuchel looks to make his mark on the national team.
