PLANS for a trampoline park at The Moody Cow Farm Shop and Welsh Kitchen, near Aberaeron, have been submitted but the local community council has raised concerns saying the work has already started.

In an application to Ceredigion County Council planners, Geraint Thomas seeks permission to convert a barn at the Bargoed Farm Shop And Cafe site, Llywyncelyn, to a trampoline park, along with associated parking facilities.

A supporting statement through agent Geraint John Planning Ltd says: “The proposed development comprises the change of use of an existing barn within the Bargoed Farm Grounds. This will facilitate the introduction of a trampoline park referred to as the ‘Bouncing Bull’.

“The facility will consist of trampolining and foam pit areas, in addition to the associated lockers and safety brieng area. Corresponding facilities will also be provided such as a food servery, viewing area, and toilets. These will be located in the existing lean-to of the current barn, providing extra space necessary for the change of use.”

It adds: “The purpose of the trampoline facility is to expand and diversify the offer of facilities to on-site tourers. This, in addition to the leisure facility, farm shop, and soft play area; will improve the complex’s selling point to potential visitors.

“The proposals do not seek to increase the number of visitors on site at any given time, but rather increase the facilities on site for the visitors who will be staying in the visitor accommodation. Parking The proposals also include a new parking area, which will be located to the south of the facility, primarily reconstituting land previously used for quarrying. This will comprise 88 parking spaces which will not only serve the facility and its staff, but the wider complex at Bargoed Farm.”

Local community council Llanarth has said it is “not opposed to the application due to its economic and employment benefits,” but says it is “concerned that the planning application has been received following the start of the work which has been heavily advertised on social media”.

It adds: “An explanation is requested as to the reason for this as the application states that work has not started, which is different to the social media post from the applicant that the development will open at the end of January before the consultation period on the application come to an end.”

The council has also raised concern about the additional use to the main entrance to Bargoed Farm following the opening of this proposed development, asking for traffic management for access and egress to the busy main road.

The application will be considered by county planners at a later date.
