Education Minister visits Ysgol Bro Pedr in Ceredigion

MR JEREMY MILES, the Welsh Government’s Minister for Education and the Welsh Language, visited Ysgol Bro Pedr on Thursday, 12 January.

The Minister was warmly welcomed by Councillor Bryan Davies, Leader of Ceredigion County Council; Councillor Wyn Thomas, Cabinet Member for Schools, Lifelong Learning and Skills; and Meinir Ebbsworth, Corporate Lead Officer for Schools and Culture. Also present was Ysgol Bro Pedr Head Teacher, Jane Wyn; Llinos Jones, Welsh Language Support Teacher and Llifon Ellis, Strategic Head of E-sgol.

During the visit the Minister saw how the Foundation Phase pupils are developing their Welsh language skills. Mr Miles also observed an E-sgol lesson where a few Year 12 pupils were studying Further Maths via the project. Following this lesson, staff and pupils had the opportunity to talk to the Minister about their experience with the E-sgol project.

The Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles MS, said: “It was great meet pupils and staff at Ysgol Bro Pedr, and I would like to thank them for their warm welcome. I was pleased to see how the school has embraced the Curriculum for Wales, and to hear the enthusiasm of pupils learning courses through E-sgol.”

Councillor Wyn Thomas said: “It was a pleasure to be a part of this visit at Ysgol Bro Pedr. This was a great opportunity for pupils to ask questions and discuss their ideas with the Minister. It was also beneficial for the Minister to be able to sit in on various classes to see the development of pupils’ Welsh skills.”

Jane Wyn, Ysgol Bro Pedr Head Teacher said: “It was great for the pupils and staff of the school to have the opportunity to meet Mr Jeremy Miles and discuss the work they’re doing at Ysgol Bro Pedr.”
