New Public Participation Strategy to be carried out in Powys

A NEW Public Participation Strategy, setting out the vision for public participation in Powys, has been published, the county council has said.

The council carried out a 12-week public consultation on the draft strategy towards the end of 2022.

The Democratic Services Committee considered the consultation report, and the updated strategy document, and gave the go-ahead for it to be published last month (Friday, February 17).

Cllr James Gibson-Watt, Leader and Cabinet Member for an Open and Transparent Powys, said: “I would like to thank everyone that gave feedback on the draft strategy during the consultation period.

“The strategy links nicely with our new Corporate and Strategic Equality Plan and will be used to guide us towards a more collaborative culture of participation and engagement with our local communities, creating a Stronger, Fairer, Greener Powys that we can all be proud of.”

The strategy, a legal requirement for all local authorities, was prepared in accordance with Welsh Government guidance to set out how the council will encourage local people to participate in decision-making.
