A PROPOSAL to extend a North Powys caravan park has been lodged with Powys County Council.
Mr and Mrs Isaac of Parc Cynhinfa, Pont Robert near Meifod want to add three static caravans, two twin caravan units, a wastewater treatment plant and associated works at spare land on the site.
These would be added to the 69 static caravans already at the park.
Planning agent Gwynfor Humphreys explained the plans in a design and access statement.
Mr Humphreys said: “The applicants own and run an established caravan site at Parc Cynhinfa.
“Five additional units are proposed, and the new units will be located on land presently used for amenity purposes that adjoins the existing caravan site.”
Mr Humphreys explained that the caravans would be positioned on “concrete pads” on grass.
Tree and shrub planting is also proposed to “minimise the visual impact” of the proposal and other caravans would be in “close proximity.”
Mr Humphreys said: “There will be parking space for two cars per unit – though only one space per unit is expected to be used on a regular basis.”
“The location of the proposed static caravans is seen as a logical extension of the site which would not detract from the overall character and appearance of the area.”
“A new drainage system is proposed as the existing site is at capacity in terms of the present foul drainage arrangement.”
This new drainage system would be a “package treatment plant” which is not connected to a mains sewer.
This plant would need to be capable of dealing with minimum capacity of 20 people based on a calculation of four people per caravan.
Mr Humphreys said: “It will have outfall to a watercourse.
“The outfall will be subject to a separate licensing from Natural Resources Wales.”
A decision on the application is expected by July 12.
