Christmas is coming to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

GET into the festive spirit and find the perfect gift for that special someone with a visit to one of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s festive events, which take place on the first weekend of December. Santa will be visiting the Christmas Market at Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids on Saturday (Dec 6), before heading on to Carew Castle’s Christmas Fayre on Sunday (Dec 7) At Oriel y Parc, a range of locally based artists, craftspeople and local producers will be bringing their unique and quality gifts to the courtyard and interior of the building, with everything from photography, ceramics, home-ware, wood work and jewellery on offer.

To help you get in the Christmas mood, Goodwick Brass Band will be on hand with festive music and the Oriel y Parc Café will be serving mulled wine and mince pies. The Oriel y Parc Christmas Market will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday (Dec 6) and is free of charge. Santa will be in his grotto and for £1.50 per child there’s the chance to meet Santa himself and receive a gift. For more details call 01437 720392.

Then on Sunday (Dec 7) there will be medieval merriment and more at Carew Castle’s Christmas Fayre, which will host a range of craftspeople selling locally made gifts, cards, decorations and produce. The Quaynotes Choir will perform traditional carols and Christmas songs from 1pm-1.30pm, with Pembrokeshire Falconry also in attendance all day, with a number of their beautiful birds. A one-to-one session with a bird costs just £1 per person.

The Carew Castle Christmas Fayre will be open from 11am to 3pm on Sunday (Dec 7), and admission to the castle costs £4 for adults with a free mince pie, with free entry for children. Tucked away down the winding corridors of the castle will be Santa and his grotto, greeting children with a gift for £1.50 per child.
