Developing children’s passion for music

sirgarmusicTHE LLANELLI cluster of schools and Coleg Sir Gâr Music Hub brought a festive feel with a musical performance at Coleg Sir Gâr where the group has been honing their music skills on a weekly basis.
They’ve been guided under the direction of heads of music Dave Evans of Coedcae School, Eileen Evans of Bryngwyn School, Dave Wiseby of Glan y Mor School and Lowri Sanders of St John Lloyd, supported by members of the county peripatetic service.
The hub aims to encourage more children to have access to specialised teaching and music facilities to facilitate a lifelong passion for music. Families and guests gathered at the college for a performance of the hub’s choir, orchestra, brass ensemble and rock band.
Nikki Neale, faculty and campus director at the Graig campus, said: “Llanelli Music Hub has been a fantastic development.
“It is wonderful to see the impact that true partnerships can bring on developing learning opportunities for our young people in Llanelli.
“We are very proud of what has been achieved to date and we have ambitious, creative plans for the future to expand this collaborative music practice.”
The initiative is funded by Carmarthenshire Music Service and Coleg Sir Gâr.
