TEN years after the launch of Burns Pet Nutrition’s Dogs’ Day Out in Pembrey, an extra special weekend is upon us.

This weekend (Sept 3-4), two fun activities will take place at Pembrey Country Park, with reduced admission for those who attend on both days.

On Saturday (Sept 3), Doggylympics will see lots of cute pups take part in exciting activities and the annual Dogs’ Day Out will follow on Sunday (Sept 4).

Hosted by Swansea Wave’s Phil Hoyles and Burns Pet Nutrition, Doggylympics is a chance for dogs and their owners to participate in have-a-go activities and a fun dog jog while raising money for Support Dogs.

Support Dogs were chosen as Burns’ Charity of the Year 2016. The charity is dedicated to transforming the lives of adults and children affected by disabilities with the aid of assistance dogs. All money raised at Doggylympics will go towards Support Dogs and Swansea Wave will be broadcasting the event live to their listeners.

Carol Lincoln, Community Liasion Officer at Burns, said: “We have been bowled over by the incredible work that Support Dogs do for children with autism and disabled people. It’s an honour to run the extra day as a fundraiser for this very special charity.”

Have-a-go activities at Doggylympics will include fastest recall and even sausage catching! There will also be a fun dog jog which the whole family can get involved in. Rosettes will be awarded to the winners.

The annual Dogs’ Day Out event will take place the next day with an action-packed programme filled with arena displays, fun dog shows and free microchipping. A plethora of stallholders will be selling all sorts of canine-related goodies and street food vendors will be serving up delicious refreshments all day.

Dogs’ Day Out is one of the largest dog soirees in Wales and has grown impressively over the years. Organiser Rowan Flindall-Shayle is thrilled to be celebrating the event’s 10 year anniversary. She said: “Dogs’ Day Out has gone from strength to strength. We recently hosted our first Scottish event and the response was incredible. We can’t wait to do it all again at Pembrey.”
