Fundraiser a wheel success

Screen Shot 2016-09-01 at 11.57.59A FUNDRAISING event in Carmarthen with a difference proved a success again this year.

Following on from last year’s event, the fancy dress wheelbarrow push raised over £1,000 for charity.

Starting at the Black Ox in Abergwili, the teams pushed their way along a two mile route – with frequent ‘refreshment stops’ along the way, before ending up in the New Stag’s Head.

The Herald caught up with the racers at Tafarn y Tanerdy near the start of the race. Organiser Luke Rice told us that the money raised this year would go towards the Teenage Cancer Trust, which is based in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Last year the group raised money for the Cameron Comey Memorial Trust.

When we spoke to the competitors, more than £850 had been raised. However, as a result of some diligent collecting en route, they eventually finished with more than £1,100.

Luke thanked everyone for their efforts in collecting sponsors, as well as members of the public who donated along the way.
