A LARGE number of people gathered at Freshwater West on Saturday, (Jan 23) to help clean the beach.

An appeal had gone out after significant storms over the winter period and those who helped were asked to meet in the car park from 11am.

A magnificent collection of over 200 bags of litter were counted and the beach is now looking much better.

Representatives from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Valero, NRW and Keep Wales Tidy were out in force to help with the efforts.

Jade Williams commented on the beach clean event page: “I can’t believe how many people turned into help clean Freshwater West. Lovely to see how many people care about our beaches. So proud of everyone and seeing the massive pile of rubbish bags was amazing.”

The National Trust at Stackpole posted on their Facebook page: “We would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped out on the Freshwater West beach clean this morning. It was fantastic to see so many people, including the big team from Valero and help from NRW, Keep Wales Tidy and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Over 200 bags of litter were collected and the beach is looking beautiful again. Thank you all.”

Many people had commented that they could not make the event and The National Trust at Stackpole also stated that they had noted requests to hold future events on different days.
