rowing recordON SATURDAY, November 23 the indoor rowing record of the vicar of Roch, Rev Michael Rowlands was smashed by his sons Gethin and Aled and their friend Morgan Weale.

The golden sub-four-hour time to row the 21 miles across the English Channel was achieved by Michael on Sea Sunday, July 14 this year when he raised money for the RNLI and the parish churches. He raised over£1400.

The three pupils from Ysgol Dewi Sant smashed the famous time by achieving a time of two hours 47 minutes, raising money for the YDS sports tour to Dubai in February 2014.

Commenting on this tremendous effort, Rev Rowlands said: “The school must be extremely proud of their efforts as I was astonished by their determination to succeed. It would be great to see this challenge taken up on a regular basis.”
