MORE THAN 60 guests attended a meeting of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland to witness the handover of the official Chains of Office to new President, Mary Adams.

Outgoing President, Paul Crawford, welcomed the guests to the event, which was also attended by District Governor Rotarian, Maggie Hughes.

The evening proved to be a family affair since the Plas Hyfryd Hotel in Narberth is owned by Mary’s brother David Jones, who was present. His other company, the Princes Gate Water company, also supplied the water on the diners’ tables.

Also present was Mary’s other brother, Glyn, whose daughter Cerys provided a lovely musical interlude of three vocals. Sixteen years old, Cerys is indeed very talented and she has been successful in achieving a scholarship to Brecon College to further her musical talents.

Paul gave an outgoing and witty speech outlining his year in office, complimenting various officers on their achievements during a very busy year of community and fundraising activities.

In delivering her acceptance speech, Mary used her photographic talents to give a screen presentation of the various events that had taken place last year and she hoped that her year would be equally successful.

Finally, she then had great pleasure in welcoming Rotarian Sue Davey to wear the President-Elect’s Chain of Office.
