South Wales Police are investigating the sudden death of a 13-year-old boy in Neath, Neath Port Talbot. Authorities have confirmed that his next of kin have been informed, and his family is receiving support during this difficult time.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police stated: “HM Coroner has been notified, and the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.”
In response to the tragedy, Neath Port Talbot Council released a statement expressing their condolences and confirming the temporary closure of a local school.
“We are extremely saddened to hear this tragic news, and our thoughts go out to the family. South Wales Police officers are currently investigating, and the council will offer any possible assistance,” the statement read.
As a result, Melin Primary School, including both its infant and junior sites, was closed on Wednesday, 29th January. Support will be provided to anyone affected by the incident. The school is set to reopen on Thursday, 30th January.
