A TEENAGER from Carmarthen has met with billionaire Sir Terry Matthews, and is now planning on setting up his own business in Llanelli.

The entrepreneurial Nick Cvetkovic is a Year 12 pupil at Queen Elizabeth High School, who approached Sir Terry Matthews, Chair of the Swansea Bay City Region Board, to discuss his business plans and seek any advice that could help him on the journey to setting up his own business.

The 17 year-old has been granted associate membership of Carmarthenshire County Council’s Beacon Centre for Enterprise which is located in Dafen, Llanelli.  The site allows Nick access to a range of facilities; from accommodation for a hot desk and meetings, to advice and support on planning and building a business.

Since the meet Nick has begun researching and development has begun in hopes of starting his business in the summer, in which he hopes to have a permanent location in the Beacon Centre for Enterprise. He currently studies business, product design, and media at A-level and wishes to incorporate these into plans for a business that will provide marketing, branding, web development, and graphic design services for businesses.

Nick Cvetkovic explained: “We will create brand identity for companies, logos for their websites and any other sort of graphic design for their promotions. I’ve done planning and research into what design businesses do and how they are run. I’m looking to employ 2-4 graduates to start off. I’m doing this on top of A-levels and there is a lot to do in school as well.”

Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board for regeneration and leisure Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “We are delighted to work with this young man who has some really interesting ideas. Nick is just the type of young person we as a county council want to support.

“He met with Sir Terry some time ago and I think Sir Terry thought he was a really bright young man who was worth supporting. It is good to know Nick is now being supported by the county council. At some point he will start employing people which is fantastic for a young man of his age.”
