FISHGUARD RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was called out to rescue an immobilised scalloper at 8am on Tuesday, November 12.
The boat was stranded six miles off of Cemaes Head near Cardigan. The 12-metre fishing boat ‘About Time’ with two crew aboard called the Coastguard after realising there was no steering and the vessel could barely make way due to its fishing gear fouling the propeller and rudder.
The lifeboat arrived alongside after one hour and took the stricken fishing boat back to the harbour.
Choppy seas meant that the journey back took two hours but the boat was eventually towed into harbour and was brought alongside the quay wall at 11am where a diver was waiting in readiness.
