screen-shot-2016-09-12-at-12-38-13ABERYSTWYTH UNIVERSITY has been shortlisted for a top accolade in the 2016 Times Higher Education Awards.

The university has been named as one of six finalists in the Most Improved Student Experience category.

The five other higher education institutes are Cardiff Metropolitan University, St George’s University of London, University of Surrey, Ulster University and York St John University.

The winner will be selected from data gathered by the THE’s YouthSight Student Experience Survey which asks around 20,000 students to rate the academic reputation, teaching, social life and facilities of their university.

Acting Vice-Chancellor at Aberystwyth University, Professor John Grattan, said: “The annual THE awards are seen as the higher education sector’s answer to the ‘Oscars’ so we’re naturally delighted to have been shortlisted for an award. We’re particularly pleased to be in the final six for the Most Improved Student Experience category , as providing a first-class student experience is at the heart of everything we do here.”

“Only a few weeks ago, Aberystwyth University was ranked the best in Wales and one of the top four universities of its kind in the UK for overall student satisfaction, so this latest nomination is further proof that Aberystwyth is an exceptional place to learn and live.”
