CHRISTOPHER FROST, the vicar in training in St Mary’s Church, Cardigan, will be trading in his dog collar for chef’s whites this month as the church is reintroducing its monthly lunches for the community.
Before Christopher joined the church, he worked in kitchens and restaurants in Cardiff and Aberystwyth both as a manager and a chef. He said: “When I’m in the kitchen, and things seem to be getting a bit too hot to handle, I try to inspire myself by imagining what a veteran chef like Gordon Ramsay would do in the situation.
“I try to keep my language a lot cleaner than his as I’m working though!”
Community lunches held at the church have been successful in the past as they have brought people within the community together; in particular, people who don’t often get the opportunity to leave the house or families looking for a good value lunch.
“We want to keep our lunches relaxed, enjoyable and very affordable, and to keep welcoming everyone in the community to join us, whoever they might be. Our team want to do it because it’s our way of trying to share with the community the love we’ve experienced from God in our own lives,” said Christopher.
The first lunch will be served at 12.30pm in St Mary’s Church Hall on Tuesday (Sept 6) where a cooked lunch and a dessert will cost just £3 and vegetarian options will be available.
