A SIXTH person has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal shooting of Joanne Penney in Talbot Green on Sunday night (Mar 9).
Ms Penney, 40, died at the scene in Llys Illtyd after being shot in the chest shortly after 6:00pm. South Wales Police confirmed a 20-year-old man from St Mellons, Cardiff, was arrested on Wednesday (Mar 12) and remains in custody.

Formal identification of Ms Penney was completed on Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man from Talbot Green, who was arrested on Sunday, has been released without charge but remains on bail for further inquiries into an alleged assault.
Magistrates have granted a warrant of further detention for four people arrested in Leicestershire on Tuesday.
Police are investigating the possibility that Ms Penney was killed in a case of mistaken identity. Officers are appealing for information about two vehicles—a beige Nissan Note (BK61 ZDC) and a black Volvo XC40 (FD24 PZF)—which travelled from Leicester into South Wales on Sunday morning before leaving shortly after the incident.

Detective Chief Superintendent Ceri Hughes said: “Detectives working on this investigation are making significant progress. While this additional arrest is a key development, our inquiry is ongoing, with a dedicated team of experienced officers and specialist staff working to establish the circumstances of Joanne’s tragic death.”
Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones urged the public to come forward with any information. “We are particularly interested in dashcam footage from commercial vehicles on Sunday, including any CCTV or dashcam recordings around Llys Illtyd and the nearby retail park between 5:30pm and 6:30pm, which may have captured these vehicles or potential witnesses.
“I want to thank everyone who has assisted so far. If you have any information, no matter how small, please come forward—it could be crucial to our investigation.”
