Boxing Club launches fundraiser to pay for extension

MERLINS Bridge Boxing Club is increasing its capacity following a ‘large increase’ in numbers.

The Club has already seen plans for an extension accepted by Pembrokeshire County Council and they are now looking for funds to pay for it.

Since lockdown the club has seen a large increase in numbers of people wanting to train with them. Training at the club takes place five nights a week.

The club also hopes they can put on multiple different classes for all ages and abilities as well as support community classes currently showing interest in wanting to use the current facilities.

The Club says they do not want to impact current members by way of increased membership fees.

The club is run by Graham and Gill Brockway and a loyal group of voluntary coaches.

It is run as a non profit organisation with any proceeds raised by the club in the way of memberships, boxing events, sponsorship or selling merchandise being put back into the club to help towards the running of the clubs amenities or new equipment, travel costs for travelling boxers or any remedial works.

Building work has already started on the site and it is hoped that once the project is completed the capacity of the club can increase by up to 30%.

The GoFundMe page has already raised £620 of its £2500 goal.
