The Big Picnic and half term fun with RSPB Cymru

Family eating picnic at open weekend at Rainham Marshes RSPB Reserve, London

ARE you ready for the Big Picnic at RSPB Cymru nature reserves this May half term? Join the RSPB Cymru at South Stack, Conwy, Ynys-hir, Lake Vyrnwy and Newport Wetlands National Nature reserve for the Big Picnic event where families can enjoy a feast outdoors and take part in a mystery wildlife detective adventure.

Pack a picnic and come and see RSPB Cymru. There is plenty of space for you to feast and relax surrounded by nature. At South Stack and Lake Vyrnwy, you can also hire a picnic hamper from the onsite cafes.

There’ll be loads of wildlife activities to entertain the whole family with a unique Wild Detective activity box which will take children on a mystery adventure with the characters Detective Hoot, an owl, and Constable Crumbs, a mouse. There will be trails to follow, picnic clues to solve and selfie stations to help families remember their day out!

The activity pack includes a booklet packed full of activities and puzzles to solve, an owl mask, bug-hunting square, a recipe card to inspire future picnics, pencil, and a personalised certificate.

June is a brilliant time of year to get your wildlife-detective hat on. Dragonflies are buzzing around ponds, toadlets are taking their first steps on land, and birds are busy feeding their chicks and darting back and forth from their nests.

Head to https://www.events.rspb.org.uk/BigPicnic to find an activity near you. Please note that while some of the activities are free, there is a £3.50 charge for some of the activity packs and events, and normal parking and entrance fees are still in place.
