Murder enquiry launched after man’s death in Blackwood

POLICE are investigating the death of a man in Blackwood after being called to a property in the early hours of Tuesday (Feb 11).

Officers attended an address in Perth Court at around 1:15am following reports of a disturbance. Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service also attended, where they found a 54-year-old man unresponsive inside the property.

Despite efforts at the scene, the man was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Detective Superintendent Michelle Chaplin said: “Our investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death continues, and we are currently treating it as unexplained.

“A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder as part of our initial enquiries; however, he was later released with no further action to be taken.

“We will maintain a police presence in the area as we continue to establish what has happened, but we would appreciate any details from the public that could assist our enquiries.”
