Newport man jailed for drug offences

ALFIE PHILLIPS, 22, appeared at Newport Crown Court on Wednesday,June 22, where he pleaded guilty to one count of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and one count of being concerned in the supply of heroin.

He was also convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in an unrelated incident.

Phillips was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for the drug offences and 18 months for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Detective Constable Alistair Frame, the officer in the case, said: “Alfie Phillips was operating a drug line involved in the supply of cocaine and heroin in Newport and Cardiff.

“We welcome the sentence imposed on Alfie and hopefully this acts as a warning against others who are tempted to engage in such criminality, which has such a negative effect on the local community.

“Illegal drugs have no place in our society and we will continue to target anyone involved in drug supply.

“We’d also continue to encourage anyone with any information about people involved in illegal drug activity to contact us.”
