A POLISH woman who claims to be Madeleine McCann is set to appear in court after being arrested at Bristol Airport. Leicestershire Police have confirmed that Julia Wandel, also known as Julia Wandelt, has been charged with multiple stalking offences following her arrest on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old, from Lubin, Poland, faces four counts of stalking. Reports suggest she was travelling to Cardiff at the time of her arrest.
According to police, two of the charges relate to offences committed between 2 May 2024 and 15 February 2025. A third charge covers the period between 3 January 2024 and 21 April 2024, while the fourth relates to incidents between 27 November 2024 and 29 December 2024.
Wandel has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 21 February.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man from Wales, who was also arrested at Bristol Airport on suspicion of stalking, has been released on police bail.
