Successes at Mary immaculate rc school

maryIt’s been an eventful term at St Mary Immaculate’s RC school in Haverfordwest, so we caught up with them for the latest news.

Talented clarinettist Melody Street from Mary Immaculate RC School recently represented Pembrokeshire at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Bala in the Woodwind section. Melody, who is in Year 6, was congratulated by the school for her success. Pupils wore silly or funny hats to school to support the recent Volunteers Week, raising £200 for the Paul Sartori Foundation. Pictured are pupils from the School Council with the Chairman of Governors, David Evans, and Toni Dorkings from the Paul Sartori Foundation. The netball team at Mary Immaculate RC School have performed exceptionally well in the Welsh primary schools championship, reaching the finals in Aberystwyth and coming runners-up against Marlborough School in Cardiff. This capped a very successful year where they became regional as well as Inter- Parish Champions. They are pictured with their coach and Year 6 teacher Lynn Hart, who has coached the school’s netball team for the last 41 years and is retiring at the end of this term. Miss Hart has achieved considerable success during that time, with the school’s team qualifying for the National Championship annually for the last twenty years and winning it outright twice. Headteacher Dean Flood said: “I must congratulate our pupils and especially Miss Hart for all her dedication over the years. She consistently gets the best from the pupils and her record of success will be difficult to match.” Pictured is Miss Hart with netball players Melody Street, Eleanor Black, Aurora Alcaron, Shelley Lacaman, Rebecca Girolami, Jed Evans, Candice Ranario and Finn Robertson.
