Eight people stabbed in incident near Eclipse Nightclub in Bodmin, Cornwall


POLICE have confirmed that a man has died and several people have been stabbed in a street brawl near a nightclub in Bodmin.

The incident occurred at 03:15am on Sunday at Victoria Square, on Castle Canyke Road, near to Eclipse Nightclub, where the victim, aged in his 30s, died at the scene. The victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

Devon and Cornwall Police said that a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and investigations are ongoing.

According to the police, multiple people had sustained suspected stab wounds, and at least seven other men and women have been injured and taken to hospital to receive treatment. However, none of them are being treated as life-threatening.

The 24-year-old suspect from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody.

Det Insp Ilona Rosson from the major crime investigation team said that they are treating this as an isolated matter and are not seeking anyone else in connection to this incident. She urged people not to speculate on social media but to report any information that may assist them.
