Future-proof broadband coming to Wales

RESIDENTS across Wales will soon have access to some of the UK’s fastest-possible fibre broadband.

Netomnia, the UK’s fastest-growing network operator, is working in Hengoed, Swansea, Llanelli, and the Llanrumney area of Cardiff to bring upload and download speeds of up to 10Gbps, more than 170 times faster than the UK’s average. This capability means that Wales’ home and business broadband needs will be met for decades to come.

The network will enable 223,000 premises to benefit as part of Netomnia’s investment of up to £66.5 million in the area. It will also be expanding within Cardiff and other areas later in 2023.

The rollout will allow residents to download enormous files in seconds, game without lag, work from home and stream content simultaneously, across multiple devices, with no buffering.

The full-fibre broadband infrastructure provided by Netomnia brings many benefits not only to the new locations across Wales, but to the UK as a whole. It facilitates more new businesses, allows local businesses to expand and compete with big brands, and leads to better productivity and innovation. It can also improve access to healthcare, learning and development opportunities.

Zoltan Kovacs, Managing Director at Netomnia, says: “We know how empowering excellent internet access can be and are working hard to level the digital playing field. Our team has started work in several areas across Wales and we’re proud to be able to boost fibre broadband access to even more people across the country by bringing our network to the capital and surrounding towns.

“The fibre infrastructure we are building in Wales is future-proofed, allowing people to take full advantage of all the resources on the internet and the opportunities they offer, unleashing their potential. And it will deliver speeds that enable the people and businesses of Wales to keep up with technology advances and growing demand for bandwidth.”
