Bus crash at University Hospital Llandough

Emergency services are currently responding to an incident at University Hospital Llandough, where a bus has crashed into several stationary cars on the hospital grounds. The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon, prompting authorities to advise the public to avoid the area.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board confirmed the incident took place on the site of the Vale of Glamorgan hospital. In a statement, a spokesperson said: “We can confirm there has been an accident at University Hospital Llandough involving a bus. South Wales Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are on site and the situation is being assessed. Please avoid the area.”

South Wales Police were alerted to the scene at around 2.35pm. A police spokesperson confirmed that no serious injuries have been reported. “At 2.35pm today, a report was received of a collision between a bus and a number of stationary cars within the grounds of Llandough Hospital. There are no reports of serious injuries. The circumstances surrounding the collision are being looked into,” they said.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service also responded to the incident. A spokesperson for the service confirmed they were called to assist in making the area safe. “SWFRS received a call at approximately 2.37pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus and several cars at Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust University Hospital, Llandough. Crews and appliances from Penarth and Cardiff Central attended and assisted with setting up a cordon and moving vehicles to make the scene safe. The police are in attendance and investigating the incident,” the spokesperson explained.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, and the public is advised to avoid the area while emergency services remain on site.
