Werndale hospital receives £1 million investment programme

WERNDALE HOSPITAL, part of Circle Health Group, is investing £1 million to transform the facilities and services on offer to patients in Carmarthen and beyond. The investment is part of Circle Health Group’s £125 million redevelopment programme across their network of 50 hospitals in the UK.

Work is now underway for a beautifully designed one storey extension to the main hospital building. The extension will incorporate a suite of new patient rooms, with bespoke en-suite bathrooms and will offer patients an up-to-date environment for their care.

The programme of works has been planned to ensure everyone visiting the hospital experiences a calming and high quality service throughout the build.

The investment comes at a time when Werndale Hospital is seeing increased demand for its services across all specialities particularly orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology and general surgery.

3,869 patients had surgery at Werndale Hospital in 2021 and the new extension will increase ward capacity by 20%. The redevelopment is due to be completed in summer 2022.

Jacky Jones, Executive Director of Werndale Hospital, said: “Offering the very best facilities and services to our patients is essential to the delivery of great patient care. The investment programme is an exciting opportunity to expand what we can offer to patients at Werndale. All our staff and consultants are very excited to see the completed extension.”

Circle Health Group was recently shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Private Hospital Group of the Year’ category for the HealthInvestor UK Awards 2022. The award looks for private healthcare providers that have pushed the boundaries within the sector.
