Polish woman claims to be Madeleine McCann, presents “evidence” and requests DNA Test

A Polish woman who claims she may be Madeleine McCann has showed two pieces of ‘evidence’ that, according to her, prove she is the missing girl.

Julia Wandelt, a 21-year-old woman from Poland, recently gained social media attention after posting online that she believes she is the missing Madeleine McCann, who disappeared in May 2007.

“I think I can be Madeleine. I need DNA test,” Wandelt writes on her Instagram account, which has gained over 370,000 followers.

She claims to have a freckle on her leg and a speck in her eye in the same places as Madeleine, as well as resembling her parents.

Wandelt alleges that the missing girl’s family has requested a DNA test.

A source close to the McCann family said, “The family are taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads.”

“It all adds up.”

A family member has reportedly offered to participate in the DNA test.

“It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that. If what she says is true, there is every chance it could be her.”

Wandelt stated that she first began to question whether she could be Madeleine a few months ago after hearing something from her grandmother.

Posting on an Instagram account named @iammadeleinemccann, Wandelt said that a German pedophile, who sexually assaulted her as a child, was the main suspect in her disappearance. She added that McCann’s parents consented to a DNA test to confirm that she was, in fact, their daughter.

“I talked with someone from Madeleine’s family and I will have a possibility to talk with Madeleine’s parents tomorrow and a DNA test will be done soon,” she claimed in an Instagram post.

Wandelt, who is being identified with three different surnames – including Faustyna, Wandelt and Wendell – sobbed inconsolably in the post while claiming that her family, who raised her, have called her to express their disapproval over her claims.

She believes her age could be wrong and hopes to make direct contact with Madeleine’s parents in the coming days.

When asked about her childhood, Wandelt said, “I don’t remember being taken away. I mean, I don’t remember almost my entire childhood.”

Madeleine was just four years old when she vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Despite years of searching, no trace of her has ever been found.
