Today (Jan 7), First Minister Eluned Morgan will address the Senedd to outline how her government will deliver for Wales in 2025.
Since taking office, the First Minister has traveled extensively across Wales, meeting people in their communities to better understand their priorities. These insights have shaped the government’s work programme, which focuses on:
- ‘Iechyd Da’ – A Healthier Wales
- Jobs and Green Growth
- Opportunities for Every Family
- Connecting Communities
An additional £157 million has already been allocated this financial year to support these goals, including:
- £21 million for NHS diagnostic equipment to reduce waiting times, plus a £50 million package to tackle the longest waits.
- £20 million for the School Standards Grant and £10 million for Additional Learning Needs provision.
- £20 million for repairs and maintenance of schools and colleges.
- £10 million to boost social housing and another £10 million for reablement services, which support individuals in relearning daily activities like cooking and washing.
- Continued support for domiciliary care, maintaining the £100-a-week maximum care charge.
Looking ahead, the Welsh Government’s 2025 Draft Budget sets out an ambitious vision, committing an extra £1.5 billion for public services and key priorities. This blueprint is designed to put Wales firmly on the path to growth and deliver meaningful improvements in people’s lives.
First Minister Eluned Morgan said:
“We have an ambitious plan for delivery in 2025 and beyond, working across each of our priority areas and in collaboration with our partners across the country.
“It’s important to me that we are a government that listens, responds, and delivers real results for people.
“This is not the end of our conversation with the people of Wales – it’s a fresh beginning: a new year, a new term, and the start of our journey to build a brighter future for Wales.”
