Hart welcomes new budget

MP Simon Hart has said that the budget delivers good news for businesses and rural motorists.

George Osborne announced plans to half the Severn Bridge toll from 2018, he froze fuel duty and increased the Personal Tax Allowance to £11,500.

“Good news for rural motorists, good news for small businesses and good news for the self-employed,” was Simon Hart MP’s verdict on the Budget.

“One of the most significant things he did was to increase the threshold for small business rate relief to £15,000 – but this only applies in England, it is imperative that the Welsh Government follows suit to support our High Streets.”

“Nearly all of us rely on our cars in rural west Wales and so his decision not to increase fuel duty was also a very welcome one.

“I also think that the so called ‘ Lifetime Isa ‘ whereby the Government will contribute £1 to every £4 that under 40s save is a huge bonus.”
