A PONTYPOOL rugby club manager is fighting for his life in intensive care after falling seriously ill last week.
Pontypool RFC shared the news on their Facebook page on Wednesday (November 13), announcing that team manager Ryan Thomas had been admitted to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
The post read: “We’re saddened to advise that team manager Ryan Thomas was admitted into intensive care at the end of last week and remains in a critical condition.
“Our thoughts are with Ryan’s family during this incredibly difficult time, and we know you’ll all join us in wishing Ryan a full recovery.”
Outpouring of support
The announcement has prompted an outpouring of support, with over 100 comments expressing well wishes and solidarity for Mr. Thomas and his loved ones.
Rugby clubs across South Wales have rallied behind Pontypool RFC, showcasing the sport’s close-knit community spirit.

Pontypool’s recent performance
Pontypool RFC competes in the Super Rygbi Cymru league. Their most recent match, an away fixture against Swansea RFC on October 24, ended in a dominant 43–10 victory. Despite trailing 12–10 at halftime, Pontypool surged ahead in the second half, delivering an impressive performance.
The club is scheduled to face Aberavon RFC on Saturday, November 23.
