Angle victorious in see-saw game

Clarbeston Road 3
Angle 4

CLARBESTON ROAD missed a late penalty as Angle won 4-3 in their senior cup second round meeting on Saturday (Dec 13). An end-to-end game saw both sides take the lead, but it was Angle who came out on top in the end to progress to the quarter finals. Clarbeston Road took the lead through Danny Clark, but Angle equalised soon after when Scott Richards headed in from a free kick.

Ben Adams put Angle in front shortly after the restart, but Clarbeston again came back, and two goals from Richard Bevan put them back in front. Adams grabbed his second of the game when he curled his shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to make it 3-3. Then, with five minutes, left Scott Richards headed a cross towards goal but the last touch came off an unfortunate Clarbeston player.

The drama did not finish there as a late penalty could have sent the game into extra time, but Jason Griffiths sent his spot kick wide and Angle held on for victory. Angle’s reward for their victory is another away trip to Pennar Robins in the quarter final.
