Bont earn sweet revenge

PONTYBEREM earned revenge for defeat to Tumble earlier in the season as they ran out comfortable 45-8 winners on Saturday (Dec 29).

The Gwendraeth Valley derby against Tumble attracted a good crowd and the home side put in a performance full of determination and no lack of quality to see them to victory.

The home side ran in seven tries with two coming from Mike Sauro and one each to Mike Jenkins, Bryn Griffiths, Aled Rees, Dafydd Jones and skipper Wayne Williams.

Mike’s first try came from a good move which started down the right hand side and some good handling to keep hold of the ball. Play was moved out to the left and Sauro touched down in the corner.

Wayne Williams’ try came from a scrum as he broke out quickest to touch the ball down.

Sauro’s second try came from a lineout and having been kept out twice he broke through the defenders to touch the ball down under the posts.

It was another bonus point win which sees the Bont climb to second spot in the league and hot on the heels of leaders Penclawdd.

It is now six wins from seven for the Bont and on Saturday (Jan 5), they will look to keep their good form going as they travel to fifth placed Pontarddulais.
