WHITLAND earned their second win in a row on Saturday (Jan 26) as they edged Llanelli Wanderers 7-9 in a tight contest.

In tough conditions it was Whitland who opened the scoring with a penalty from Nico Setaro.

The Wanderers soon hit back and scored a try through Adam Nation which was converted by Rhydian Morgan.

It was 7-6 at half time as Setaro landed another penalty and it was still all to play for in the second half.

The second half was almost identical to the first with both sides going forward in the mud but struggling to add to the score.

With ten minutes left the Wanderers were penalised for an offside and Whitland went ahead with their third penalty, scored by Setaro for a hat trick of penalties.

The Wanderers pressed hard looking to win the game but they ran out of time as Whitland hung on for the win.

Llanelli secured a losing bonus point for their efforts and they now sit fourteen points above the bottom two. The Wanderers will look to get back to winning ways on Saturday (Feb 2), when they travel to Hendy.

Whitland’s win keeps them seventh in the table and on Saturday, they host third placed Llangennech.
