Bridge close the gap to top five

MERLINS Bridge closed the gap to the top five in Division 1 on Saturday (Mar 19) as they beat Pennar Robins 2-1.

The reverse fixture at the Racecourse saw Pennar win the game by the same scoreline and it was another close game at Bush Camp.

Defeat for Pennar is their third in a row and they sit just five points above the bottom two, but they have played less games than all of the teams around them.

Will Haworth put the Wizards ahead in the tenth minute but Pennar equalised on the half hour through Ross Jones.

It remained 1-1 until the break but it was the Bridge who would get the winning goal in the 60th minute.

17-year-old Henry Thomas scored his first goal of the season to put the visitors back ahead.

That was the end of the scoring and the Wizards now sit sixth in the table, just one point behind fifth placed Fishguard.

On Saturday, March 26, Pennar Robins travel to Hakin United while Merlins Bridge are at home against St Ishmaels.
