Burton reach Clive Huxley Cup final after beating Whitland

BURTON are through to the final of the Clive Huxley Cup after beating Whitland on Sunday (Jul 10).

The game was played at Cresselly as part of the semi-finals day and was the second of the two to be played.

Whitland batted first but they lost opener Caroline Cooper early on when she was caught off the bowling of Lily Thomas.

Lani Hogben batted well for her score of 35 while Angharad Jenkins also batted well to reach her fifty.

Hogben was out caught while Jenkins fell on a score of 65 when she was bowled by Thomas.

Kelly Rogers made a late score of 32 before being bowled by Olivia James as Whitland finished on 145-4 from their 20 overs.

Fiona Scale and Rhiannon Morgan started well for Burton as Scale reached a score of 64 while Morgan scored 32 before having to retire hurt. Lily Thomas scored 11 before being bowled by Fflur Davies.

Wella Scale and Olivia James then held their nerve as they finished unbeaten on scores of 15 and 11 respectively.

That saw Burton to victory in the last over and they will now look forward to the final against Pembroke Dock.

That game will take place on Sunday, July 24, at Stackpole Cricket Club.
