Burton’s chase ended by the rain

THE game between Pembroke and Burton on Saturday (June 4) was abandoned due to rain.

Pembroke had scored 177-7 after being asked to bat by Burton with opener Paul White making a good score of 41 (4 fours).

Jack Harries scored 12 while Will Davies and Alan Webster both made scores of 19.

Andrew Price added 14 before a late score of 38 from Steve Durston pushed Pembroke’s score up.

There were wickets all round for Burton’s bowlers with Luke Hayman taking 2-39 while Morgan Scale, John Scale, Nicholas Jones and Robert Webb all claimed a wicket each.

Burton lost Martin James and Jonathan Venables early in their reply with Rob Smythe and Alan Webster claiming a wicket.

Luke Hayman was not out on 26 while brother Toby was unbeaten on 52 (7 fours) before the rain intervened.

Both sides claimed nine points for their efforts.

On Saturday, June 11, Burton travel to Llanrhian while Pembroke travel to Whitland.
