CARDIFF moved up to third place in the Indigo Premiership on Saturday (Feb 19) as they beat Bridgend Ravens 12-29.
Conditions were tricky for both sides as an early lineout was blown out in the wind, forcing a knock on from the visitors.
Cardiff applied the pressure for much of the opening stages and came close to the line but Ravens did well to hold the ball up.
Play was then brought back for an earlier foul and from the resulting scrum, Cardiff worked the ball wide and Theo Cabango slid over in the corner.
With 25 minutes gone it was the visitors who continued to look for another score and they got one when Jake Beetham slid over and he then added the extras to make it 12-0.
The home looked to get themselves back in the game before the break and with two minutes to go it was Dewi Cross who went over. The conversion was missed and the score remained 5-12.
Both sides knew that the first score of the second half could prove crucial and it went the way of the visitors.
Fourteen minutes in, Cabango turned on the pace to skip through the defence and he found Max Llewellyn to make it 17-3.
The Ravens again looked for a way back into the game and were able to make a good break shortly after the hour mark but a knock on ended their chance of scoring.
With five minutes to go Cardiff got their bonus point try, scored by Gwilym Bradley to take the score to 22-5.
That all but secured the points for the Blue and Blacks but the Ravens did not give up and they were rewarded with a second try shortly before the end.
Harvey Nash was on the end of a good move to score and Matthew Jones then added the extra two points.
There was still time for Cardiff to score one more as Rory Harries picked the ball up from the scrum to score under the posts. Jake Beetham then added the extras to make the final score 12-29.
Cardiff are next in action on Friday, February 25, as they travel to Llanelli, kick off 7:15pm.
Bridgend are in action on Saturday, February 26, as they host Merthyr, kick off 1:30pm.
