CAREW began their Division 1 season with a 4-1 win over Merlins Bridge on Saturday (Sept 3).
Carew suffered defeat in both their games against Merlins Bridge last season and both were looking to make a good start to the season.
The game was only 5 minutes old when Sam Christopher scored to put Carew ahead.
Jordan Richards scored Carew’s second to put them 2-0 ahead.
Fraser Finlay pulled a goal back for the Bridge but Carew soon restored their two goal lead.
They were awarded a penalty and last season’s top scorer Adam Muskett made no mistake from the spot.
Sub Tom Cole, who played for Lawrenny last season, then made it 4-1 to seal the points for the home side.
Merlins Bridge had Richard Hughes sent off late on as any hopes they had of making a comeback we’re all but ended.
On Saturday, September 10, Merlins Bridge host Neyland while Carew travel to Monkton Swifts.
