Carew ease to win over Tish

CAREW earned their eighth win of the season on Saturday (Aug 13) as they beat St Ishmaels by nine wickets.

Tish won the toss and chose to bat but they were bowled out for 117.

They lost Phil Llewellyn early on when he was bowled by Iori Hicks before Peter Bradshaw and Karl Rhead shared 35 runs for the second wicket.

Bradshaw hit four fours in his score of 21 but he was then caught by Shaun Whitfield off the bowling of James Hinchliffe.

Hinchliffe also had Brennan Devonald caught by Sion Jenkins and Whitfield then trapped Rhead leg before on a score of 19.

Hinchliffe then had the wicket of Richard Brock and Jonathan Pawlett (11) as Tish slipped to 57-6.

Andrew Williams was then trapped leg before by Whitfield who also then bowled Lewis Rhead.

Andrew Pawlett and Lenny Rees then shared 20 runs for the ninth wicket as they looked to give Tish a score they could defend.

Pawlett hit seven fours and a six in his score of 38 from 17 balls but he was then bowled by Hinchliffe.

Lenny Rees then made a score of 14 before being bowled by Whitfield as the innings came to a close.

James Hinchliffe and Rhys Davies got Carew’s reply off to a good start as they put on 61 runs for the first wicket.

Hinchliffe hit seven fours in his score of 37 but he was then trapped leg before by Andrew Pawlett.

Davies and Brian Hall were then untroubled as they guided Carew to their target in the 27th over.

Hall finished unbeaten on 23 while Davies hit seven fours and a six as he finished unbeaten on 51.

The win for Carew keeps them in fourth place and their is still a chance they can achieve a higher position.

On Saturday, August 20, Carew visit Llangwm while St Ishmaels host Saundersfoot.
