Carew return with big win

CAREW returned to Division 1 with a big win on Sunday (Apr 28), as they beat Llangwm by 184 runs at Pill Parks.

Llangwm won the toss and elected to field on what was a damp afternoon but Carew didn’t seem fazed by the conditions.

They put on an excellent display of batting, eventually finishing on 272-5 from their 45 overs.

Nick Davies scored 31 for the visitors before Ian Sefton and Tom Davies took control of the game.

Davies scored 95 and was unlucky to miss out on a century while Sefton did reach three figures, making a score of 107.

Toby Asson did take two wickets for Llangwm for the loss of 48 runs while Ollie Davies also picked up a wicket.

Having missed out on a century, Davies set about disrupting the Llangwm reply and he did just that as he had Joseph and Matthew Kiff caught by Tom and Nick Scourfield respectively.

Shaun Whitfield then had Noah Davies caught by namesake Nick on a score of two as the home side began to struggle.

Will Beresford did make 25 but he was then caught by Jacob Knox off the bowling of Tom Davies.

He then bowled namesake Ollie for a duck and he also bowled Euan Griffiths and Toby Asson for similar scores, finishing with excellent figures of 6-15.

Richard Brock added 6 runs to the score but he was then bowled by Whitfield.

Phil Llewellyn offered some late resistance with Luke Brock as the former made 21 before being caught by Sefton off the bowling of Ceri Brace,

Brace then had Daniel Morgan caught by Tom Scourfield for a duck, leaving Brock not out on 23 and Llangwm all out on 88.

On Saturday (May 4), Llangwm will go in search of their first win of the season when they take on St Ishmaels while Carew are at home to neighbours Lawrenny.
