Carew strengthen grip on third with win over Clarby

CAREW strengthened their grip on third place in Division 1 as they beat fourth placed Clarbeston Road 6-3 on Saturday (Apr 2).

Ahead of the game the sides were seprated by just two points and Clarby were looking to avenge a 5-1 home defeat to the Rooks a couple of weeks ago.

However, Carew started well and went ahead after nine minutes as Curtis Hurlow scored.

It was 2-0 just a minute later as Adam Muskett scored his 29th league goal of the season.

Gareth Lewis made it 3-0 for Carew and Archie Smith then got his name on the scoresheet to make it 4-0.

Muskett then made it 30 for the season with his second of the afternoon and Carew’s fifth with just under an hour still to play.

Clarby hit back in the second half though as Richard Bevan scored on the hour mark.

Ten minutes later Jason Griffiths scored and with eight minutes left Matthew Griffiths scored to further raise Clarby’s hopes of completing a comeback.

Carew though made the points safe as Jordan Richards scored the home sides sixth goal of the game.

Carew are next in action on Tuesday (Apr 5) as they travel to Pennar Robins.
