Carmarthen seal narrow win over Swansea

ON a glorious sunny day Carmarthen men’s welcomed Swansea to close their 2021/22 leauge campaign, a team who had beaten them heavily in the reverse fixture.

The game started and both teams exhanged periods of extended possession. The tense contest had one crucial moment where the pressure told, as Luke Dunning, making his first home appearance  managed to turn Swansea over im their own D and fired the ball into the goal against his old club for his first Carmarthen goal.

The game countined to ebb and flow, and half time whistle came with Carmarthen taking their 1-0 lead into half time.

The second half started and straight away Carmarthen would put the pressure on Swansea trying to find that second insurance goal, however this didn’t come and the momentum shifted, with the hosts having to do their fair share of defending against Swansea attacks. The defence proved up to the challenge holding on to a 1-0 lead to take bragging rights over Swansea on this occasion.

Man of match was shared between goal scorer Luke Dunning for scoring what would prove to be a vital goal on the day and Russell Horsey for his overall excellent defensive game, an impressive second man of match award in four total games for the club.

This sees Carmarthen’s league campaign come to an end with games from other teams still to be played in the coming weeks.

Carmarthen will finish either 5th or 6th depending on those results. However, their season is not over there as they have a national challenge cup semi final to be played on April 9, as they face Bridgend
