MONKTON Swifts are the early Division 1 leaders after they beat St Clears 6-1.
The Saints were promoted from the second division last season and were looking to make a good start.
However, it was Martyn Carroll who gave Swifts the lead after 37 minutes.
They weren’t ahead for long though as Josh Jones equalised three minutes later.
The sides went in level at the break but just a minute into the second half the Swifts regained the lead.
It was Ben Steele who got it an on the hour mark Carroll grabbed his second of the game.
Blake James then made it 4-1 with just over 20 minutes to go to all but seal the points.
In the 78th minute Carroll scored again to complete his hat trick.
Three minutes later Steele scored his second to make it 6-1.
On Saturday, September 10, Monkton host Carew and St Clears travel to Pennar Robins.
