Claire shows the boys up!

claire shows the boysNEYLAND Sea Angling Club members made their way last weekend to Saundersfoot to fish the annual and much sort after Bernie Cup.

The Bernie Cup was given to the club in memory of a life time member Bernie Eecles. There is not a member in the club that does not want to win this trophy at least once, and there was a great turn out of members waiting to do battle.

The evening competition started at 6pm and finished at 10.30 for the weigh in. Up until recently fishing from the harbour wall had been very good, and club president Bob South and Secretary Pat Beisly tested the waters earlier in the week.

But this night was not so good for all but one competitor, and it was one of the lady members who is making it a bit of a habit of showing the boys how to do it.

Claire Hall landed a fine plump flounder with her first cast of the match, and the rest of the members were plagued with small pin Whiting. Claire also won the pool for the heaviest fish. Thanks to the adjudicators on the night Bernie Davies and Steve Tate.

The next and the last club match before the Fur and Feather is at Dale on December 7 fishing 5pm till 10pm. Booking in at the car park Griffin beach at 4.30.
